Pull-Apart Garlic Butter Cheese Bread (Skillet Style)

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Garlic Butter

  • 3 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Filling

  • 1 to 1½ cups shredded mozzarella
  • ¼ cup cheddar (optional for extra flavor)

Topping

  • 1 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. In a bowl mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.

2. Prepare Garlic Butter

Mix together:

  • Melted butter
  • Minced garlic
  • Parsley
  • Pinch of salt

Set aside.

3. Shape the Bread

  1. Roll dough into a large circle (about 10–12 inches).
  2. Brush with garlic butter.
  3. Sprinkle cheese evenly.
  4. Cut the dough into strips or squares.
  5. Stack or fold pieces loosely to create a pull-apart effect.

4. Cook in Skillet

  1. Grease a cast-iron skillet or heavy pan.
  2. Place the dough pieces inside.
  3. Cover and cook on low heat for 15–20 minutes until bottom is golden.

(Or bake in oven at 375°F / 190°C for 18–20 minutes.)

5. Finish

  1. Brush top with more garlic butter.
  2. Sprinkle sesame seeds.
  3. Let cheese melt and serve warm.

Tips for Perfect Pull-Apart Bread

✔ Use low heat so the inside cooks fully.
✔ Add parmesan for extra flavor.
✔ Brush with garlic butter twice (before and after cooking).
