Parmesan-Crusted Chicken

Parmesan-Crusted Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned for added flavor, if desired)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil or cooking spray for frying
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • If the chicken breasts are thick, pound them to an even thickness to ensure uniform cooking.
  2. Set Up the Breading Station:
    • In a shallow dish, mix the flour with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
    • In a second shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
    • In a third shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. Bread the Chicken:
    • Coat each chicken breast in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
    • Dip the floured chicken into the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
    • Press the chicken into the Parmesan and breadcrumb mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  4. Pan-Fry the Chicken:
    • Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the breaded chicken to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan—cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Bake the Chicken:
    • Transfer the chicken breasts to a baking dish.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes to ensure they are fully cooked through and the cheese is melted.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the chicken rest for a few minutes after baking.
    • Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve with your favorite sides.

Enjoy this crispy, flavorful Parmesan-Crusted Chicken as a delicious meal!
