Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars

Ingredients

For the Base:

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

For the Caramel Layer:

  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Topping:

  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional, for drizzle)

Directions

1. Prepare the Pretzel Base

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and granulated sugar.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into a greased 9×9-inch baking pan.
  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, then remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.

2. Make the Caramel Layer

  1. In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream over medium heat.
  2. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Cook for 4–5 minutes, or until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the caramel evenly over the cooled pretzel crust and refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.

3. Add the Chocolate Topping

  1. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring in between until smooth.
  2. Spread the melted chocolate over the caramel layer.
  3. If desired, melt the white chocolate chips and drizzle over the top for decoration.

4. Chill and Serve

  1. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the chocolate has set completely.
  2. Slice into bars and enjoy the perfect combination of sweet, salty, and crunchy!
