Ingredients
For the Meat Patties:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
For the Sliders:
- 8 small burger buns or slider rolls (alternatively, use sliced bread or mini bagels)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni or preferred toppings (such as mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or a mix of mozzarella and cheddar)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Construction
- Prepare the Meat Patties
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey, finely diced onion, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape them into small patties.
- Cook the Patties
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and browned. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Assemble the Sliders
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the bottom halves of the burger buns or rolls on a baking tray.
- Spread a thin layer of pizza or marinara sauce on each bun.
- Layer the Toppings
- Place one cooked meat patty on each bun.
- Top with sliced pepperoni or your preferred toppings.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella (or the cheese blend) generously over the patties.
- Add grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
- Bake the Sliders
- Cover with the top halves of the buns.
- Place the tray in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve
- Remove the sliders from the oven and garnish with fresh basil or parsley, if using.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
