Cinnamon Roll Cake Recipe

Ingredients

Bottom Layer:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder

Cinnamon Topping:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Construction

1. Prepare the Batter:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, milk, white sugar, eggs, and baking powder. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

2. Make the Cinnamon Topping:

  1. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until fully combined.
  2. Spoon the cinnamon mixture over the batter. Use a knife to swirl it into the batter, creating a marbled effect.

3. Bake the Cake:

  1. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly.

4. Prepare the Glaze:

  1. While the cake cools, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake.

5. Serve:

Slice and serve warm. Enjoy!

Variations:

  1. Add Nuts: Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts into the cinnamon topping for added crunch.
  2. Cream Cheese Glaze: Replace part of the powdered sugar with cream cheese for a tangy glaze.
  3. Pumpkin Spice Twist: Add a teaspoon of pumpkin spice to the topping for a fall-inspired version.
  4. Caramel Drizzle: Drizzle caramel sauce over the glaze for extra decadence.
  5. Apple Cinnamon: Add thinly sliced apples to the batter or topping for a fruity twist.

Tips:

  1. Room Temperature Ingredients: Use room-temperature eggs and milk for a smoother batter.
  2. Do Not Overmix: Mix the batter just until combined to avoid a dense cake.
  3. Use Fresh Cinnamon: Freshly ground cinnamon enhances the flavor.
  4. Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  5. Reheat: Warm individual slices in the microwave for a few seconds before serving.

This Cinnamon Roll Cake is a perfect blend of cinnamon rolls and cake—a delightful treat for any occasion!
