Savory Beef and Cheese Biscuit Delights

Ingredients

Biscuits:

  • 1 (16.3 oz) can refrigerated biscuits (8-count)
  • 8 slices deli roast beef
  • 8 slices provolone or Swiss cheese

Au Jus Dip:

  • 1 (10.5 oz) can beef consommé or beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional, for extra depth of flavor)

Optional Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh parsley

Construction

  1. Prepare the Biscuits:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Flatten each biscuit slightly with your hands or a rolling pin.
  2. Assemble the Biscuits:
    • Place a slice of roast beef and a slice of cheese in the center of each biscuit.
    • Fold the biscuit dough around the filling, pinching the edges to seal completely.
  3. Bake the Biscuits:
    • Place the sealed biscuits on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, seam-side down.
    • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  4. Prepare the Au Jus Dip:
    • While the biscuits bake, combine beef consommé, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, and soy sauce (if using) in a small saucepan.
    • Heat over medium heat until simmering. Reduce heat and keep warm.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove biscuits from the oven and let cool slightly.
    • Serve warm with a side of the prepared au jus for dipping. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Variations

  • Cheesy Twist: Add a sprinkle of shredded cheddar or mozzarella inside the biscuits for extra cheesiness.
  • Spicy Kick: Add a dollop of horseradish sauce or a slice of jalapeño to the filling.
  • Garlic Butter Finish: Brush the tops of the baked biscuits with melted garlic butter for added flavor.
  • Vegetarian Option: Substitute roast beef with sautéed mushrooms and onions.

Tips

  • Sealing the Biscuits: Ensure the edges are tightly sealed to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
  • Serving Size: Double the recipe for a larger crowd or as a party appetizer.
  • Broiler Option: For a crispier top, broil the biscuits for 1-2 minutes after baking.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for the best texture.
