Ingredients
- 1 pound (450 g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- 1 ½ cups (150 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Construction (How to Make It)
- Preheat Oven: Set oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
- Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) rectangle. Transfer to the baking sheet.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, and Italian seasoning. Brush the mixture evenly over the dough.
- Add Cheese & Seasoning: Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the dough. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Slice & Serve: Let cool slightly, then cut into breadsticks. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Variations
- Extra Cheesy: Add a blend of cheeses like cheddar, provolone, or Monterey Jack.
- Spicy Version: Sprinkle red pepper flakes or drizzle with hot sauce.
- Garlic Lover’s Breadsticks: Use roasted garlic instead of fresh for a milder, deeper flavor.
- Stuffed Breadsticks: Fold the dough over cheese before baking for a gooey cheese-stuffed version.
- Gluten-Free: Use a gluten-free pizza dough.
Tips for the Best Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks
- Use Fresh Dough: Let refrigerated dough sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before rolling for easier handling.
- Crispier Crust: Bake directly on a pizza stone or preheated baking sheet.
- Dipping Sauce Ideas: Serve with marinara sauce, ranch, garlic butter, or pesto.
- Make Ahead: Assemble and refrigerate unbaked breadsticks for up to 8 hours before baking.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes to crisp them up.
