Bread in a Bag (Soft Homemade Loaf)

Bread in a Bag (Soft Homemade Loaf)
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons sugar
1 packet (2¼ tsp) rapid-rise yeast
3 tablespoons olive oil
1¼ teaspoons salt
1 cup warm water (about 45°C / 110°F)
Instructions

  1. Mix in the bag
In a large resealable plastic bag, add:
1 cup flour, sugar, and yeast.
Seal the bag and shake to combine.
  2. Add liquids
Pour in warm water and olive oil.
Seal the bag again and squeeze/mix until well combined.
  3. Add remaining flour
Add the rest of the flour and salt.
Seal and knead by squeezing the bag until a soft dough forms (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. Knead outside the bag
Remove dough from the bag onto a lightly floured surface.
Knead briefly (2–3 minutes) until smooth.
  5. First rise
Place dough in a greased bowl or leave in the bag (loosely sealed).
Let it rise in a warm place for about 30–45 minutes, until doubled.
  6. Shape
    Punch down the dough.
Shape into small loaves or rolls and place in greased mini pans or a baking dish.
  7. Second rise
Cover and let rise again for 20–30 minutes until puffy.
  8. Bake
    Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
    Optional Finishes
Brush with melted butter for a soft crust
Sprinkle with herbs, garlic, or sesame seeds
Add cheese inside for a stuffed version 😋
    Tips
Water should be warm, not hot (hot water kills yeast).
Dough should be soft, not sticky—add a little flour if needed.
Great recipe to make with kids since it’s hands-on but less messy!
