1 tablespoon sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm milk (not hot)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 egg
For the garlic butter glaze:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
3–4 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Make the dough
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms. - Knead
Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic (by hand or mixer).
If sticky, add a little flour—just enough to handle. - First rise
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size. - Shape rolls
Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces.
Shape into smooth balls and place in a greased baking dish, slightly spaced. - Second rise
Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes until puffy. - Bake
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown. - Garlic butter glaze
Mix melted butter, garlic, parsley, and salt.
Brush generously over hot rolls right after baking.
Tips for Perfect Rolls
Use warm (not hot) milk to activate yeast properly.
Don’t over-flour the dough—soft dough = fluffy rolls.
Brush twice for extra flavor: once right out of the oven, and again before serving
Add shredded mozzarella inside each roll for a cheesy surprise!
