Easy Wonton Soup

 Ingredients

For the wontons:

  • 1/2 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 20–25 wonton wrappers

For the soup:

  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 cup bok choy or spinach 🥬
  • 2 green onions (chopped)

 Instructions

  1. Make filling:
    Mix ground meat, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper.
  2. Fill wontons:
    Place a small amount of filling in each wrapper. Fold and seal edges with water.
  3. Prepare broth:
    In a pot, bring chicken broth, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil to a boil.
  4. Cook wontons:
    Add wontons and cook for 4–5 minutes until they float and are fully cooked.
  5. Add greens:
    Add bok choy or spinach and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  6. Serve:
    Garnish with green onions and chili flakes if desired.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill wontons to avoid breaking
  • Use store-bought wrappers for convenience
  • Wontons can be frozen for later use

 Tips

  • Add mushrooms for extra umami 🍄
  • Use shrimp filling for variation
  • Drizzle chili oil for spice 🌶️
