INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets)
  • 250g ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 100g grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Prepare the filling: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, cooking until soft and golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Season with cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the grated cheese until melted and combined.
  4. Assemble the pastries: Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into squares or rectangles (about 6-8 pieces per sheet).
  5. Place a generous spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry piece. Fold the pastry over to form a triangle or a circular shape, pressing the edges to seal.
  6. Egg wash: Beat the egg and brush it over the top of each pastry to give it a golden finish when baked.
  7. Bake: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
  8. Serve: Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with a cup of coffee or your favorite morning beverage.
